Propulsion

I have decided on using a diesel electric hybrid propulsion system. This is made up from a 12.5kW AC generator, a 48VDC battery bank and two 48VDC electric motors. The electric motors are coupled to a Beta marine saildrive and this is mounted on a Beta Marine engine bed. I chose to use these Beta Marine components so that I could easily swap the electric motors out with a Beta Marine diesel motor if my setup doesn't perform the way I expect it to.
