DECKS
Fall 2003

Before putting on the decks I finished as much of the glassing of the bulkheads to the hulls especially in the tight spaces. I was trying to get the decks and the coachroof on before the temperature was going to drop below the 60's on a daily basis. That way I can easily heat the inside of the boat and work with the vinyl ester since that stuff needs at least 60 degrees to properly set up.

It is helpfull to have children that fit in tight spaces, This is Jesse, he is smiling because of all the money that he extorted from me to do this, not because he likes the job.

I also had to build the mast base support as there can be quite a load at that point. It took a while to get all this glassed together.

Jesse doesn't know it yet but I have to cut small openings in the side of these boxes so that he can climb inside and glass the plywood top to the sides of the mast support.

I used the bulkheads and more frames to get the shape for the decks. I than applied the foam to the frames and faired the "foam decks" so that I could glass the outside of the deck.

After the outside was glassed I took the frames out from the inside and took the whole section of deck down to my work table where I cleaned up the inside and glassed it as well.
.

Afterwards the section was put back in its place on the hull and glassed to the hull and the bulkheads.

Now it was time to start putting the lid on it.
