Stanchions

These were made out of tubes that I made by using the stanchion as a plug and glassed over them. I then removed the core and "glued the tubes to the hull using the stanchions to keep them plumb.  I then glassed them to the hull with several layers of cloth. It is amazing how solid they feel, On previous boats i owned I never felt that the stanchion bases were substantial enough but these feel like you can hang an elephant on them.

Seagull striker

This is the seagull striker. It will eventually hold a stainless wire that spans the width of the forward beam and stiffens it up so that the forestay tension doesn't bend the beam. The picture next to it is a crosscut of one of the legs, you can clearly see the separation between the layers of carbon uni (black) and the dual bias cloth (white)
